Attorney Frederick “Derick” Cooper IV
Derick is an experienced trial lawyer – he has been litigating catastrophic injury and wrongful death claims for nearly 20 years. Prior to joining the J. Stein Law Firm as Of Counsel, Derick was an Equity Partner at Weinberg, Wheeler, Hudgins, Gunn & Dial, one of the most revered defense litigation firms in the Southeast. There, Derick defended Fortune 500 companies where his practice focused on the defense of catastrophic tort, automobile, trucking, premises liability and product liability cases.
Derick tried many cases to verdict against some of the country’s finest Plaintiff’s attorneys with millions of dollars at stake. Derick then decided to move on from his defense firm partnership and now devotes his entire practice to representing the seriously injured and the families of those who tragically lost their lives due to the negligence of others. Via his years on the defense side, Derick learned exactly how corporate defendants and insurers try to avoid legal responsibility and reduce plaintiffs’ recoveries and, more importantly, how to beat those tactics. This, along with his ability and willingness to try any case no matter how big or complicated, continues to give his clients a significant advantage against corporate defendants and insurers in litigation. The goal of Derick’s law practice has always been simple – to help individuals and their families navigate life altering accidents and injuries and obtain the maximum compensation they deserve.
Derick is a native Atlantan and lives in Brookhaven, Georgia with his wife, daughter, son and Black Labrador (“Baxter”). When he has spare time, you can find him driving all over the Southeast watching his children play in club soccer tournaments and being too emotionally invested in the Georgia Bulldogs football team.
