Garrett Nail from the law firm of Portnoy Garner & Nail joins us for this episode. In an age of specialization, Garrett is one of the rare lawyers who has been able to consistently find success in all sort of different areas of law. After admittingly starting off slow academically at UGA, Garrett kicked himself in the pants and rededicated himself – ultimately graduating #1 in his Law School class from Georgia State. Garrett talks about the perseverance and change in perspective it took for him to do that. Garrett worked for two “Big Law” law firms after Law School and he discusses what that experience was like and how it shaped his legal career. Garrett talks about how he ended up leaving big firm life to join his current boutique firm as a named partner where he works on family law cases, domestic relations, complex civil litigation including financial issues and bankruptcy matters. He sums it up by saying his practice is to help people with means work out their problems and its fascinating to hear all the different types of cases he has worked on. Along the way, Garrett founded Gate City Brewery so we talk about the ins and outs of brewing beer and how he was the first fan of Luke Jackson and Braves “The Night Shift”.
