Mike Faunce talks Eagles in Super Bowl LVII, Arm Care and Playing College Baseball, Collecting Bourbon and the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta Program

Its Super Bowl week and Mike Faunce joins Sports ‘n Torts. Originally from New Jersey, Mike moved down to Georgia 25 years ago to play college baseball. However, his roots and teams he cheers for remain up North – namely, the Philadelphia

Eagles and Philadelphia Phillies. Mike talks about seeing the Eagles win their first Super Bowl in franchise history in 2017 in Minneapolis and what that meant to his community and family. We fast forward to Mike being in Philadelphia with his dad for the playoff game a few weeks ago against the Giants and being back in this year’s Super Bowl. Mike breaks down the key matchups in the game and gives his predictions on what will happen. We go through an assortment of prop bets (for example o/u the national anthem being 2 minutes and 5 seconds), discuss the half time show and memorable commercials. Basically soup to nuts about the “Big Game”. Though he does not fit the stereotype, Mike explains why “Philly fans” have the reputation that they do. On the them of Philadelphia, we of course do some Bryce Harper and Trea Turner talk.

As stated, Mike played college baseball as a pitcher. We talk about the current state of youth baseball and his advice to us dads out there on best practices for our kids. We talk arm care, throwing curve balls, playing multiple sports and focusing on development. A must listen for anyone with kids who are playing youth baseball. Mike also has the best bourbon collection of anyone I have ever seen. An owner of 700+ bottles, he talks about how he first got into collecting, his reasons for collecting and the joy it provides him.

Finally, we talk about Mike’s involvement with the Big Brother Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta Program. Mike has been a Big Brother to Jaylen since he was 5 years old. He is now 20 and they remain as close as ever. It is a truly remarkable program and Mike was recognized a few years ago as the “Atlanta Big Brother Of the Year”.

One of the best guys around on the above topics and many others – I know you will enjoy listening to Mike.
